When Life Gives You Lemons...Create a Scrapbooking Layout

Hello fabulous friends.  I am here today, sharing a lemonade scrapbooking layout that features a super-sized title of a proverbial phrase we all know and love. It's meant to provide optimism but I'm using it in the literal sense 'cause it's just too good to pass up for this lemonade stand layout.

I also wanted to create a quilt-like lemon as part of the title to make it "pop" and add a bit more interest to the page. Let's see how it all came together.

I like to sketch my projects out, either in a sketch book or digitally.  When I'm working on my computer or I know I am going to be using my Silhouette, I use the Silhouette software to sketch it all out.  I actually draw boxes for photos and layers to make sure everything will fit perfectly before I cut it out.  It also serves as a great guide to creating the actual layout once everything is cut.

Once I knew how much space I had to work with, I trimmed down the cardstock and adhered it over the background.  But first, I cut out the inside of the background patterned paper because I just can't let anything go to waste!  Now it was time for a little stitching with the sewing machine and I was set to go.

As mentioned previously, I wanted to create the patchwork quilt-like feel for the lemon. To accomplish this, I cut the lemon shape out of cardstock. Next, I adhered small squares randomly over the top and set aside to dry. Once dry, I trimmed the overage to reveal a lemon shape.

Repeat the process for the leaf.....

Next, it was time for the large title.  I cut letters out of six different patterned papers. I actually cut the same exact letters from the different papers. Then I randomly placed them, making sure that no two were too close to each other.  While this wastes a bit of paper, I wanted flexibility to change patterns as needed.

Once I liked the placement, I adhered them with liquid adhesive and added my super-sized lemonade word. "Lem" and "nade" where also adhered with liquid adhesive. I placed the lemon shaped "o" in the middle using foam for dimension.

I added photos, embellishments, and the oh so important journaling to complete the page. With that I ask, who's ready for some lemonade, or better yet, who's ready for some lemonade scrapbooking?

DIY Easter Home Decor

Hi everyone.  I am excited to share some DIY Easter home decor I created.

I created this using a circular pallet design concept, a free bunny cut file and the delightful Pebbles "Tealightful" collection. Here's the supplies you'll need to create this:

• Pebbles Tealightful collection - paper, die cuts, stickers
• Thickers or die cut sentiment
• Canvas or pallet board
• Download the free Bunny Cut File (Silhouette only) I created
• Scissors
• Adhesive

The first thing o do is to cut your grass.  I cut 2"x12" strips and then fringe cut them to create a grass like feel.  I believe I used 7 strips in total. Once I had them all cut, I laid them out on the pallet to see how high I could place them.  Once I liked the way it looked, I adhered one over the other, starting at the top and layering each strip over the other until I reached the bottom.  I then wrapped the edges of the strips around the sides.

I used a 10" circular pallet board so I made my largest bunny approximately 8 inches and then just scaled the other two down to approximately 5 inches and 3 inches. Once they were cut, I tucked them in the grass at varying heights, overlapping the large mommy bunny just slightly.

Next, I cut some bunting from the banner patterned paper. I chose to use triangle and circular buntings for this project.  Once these were cut, I placed them at the top and tucked them a bit under mommy bunny's ears.

I used a combination of puffy stickers and a 3D rosette flower for the bunny tails and then just embellished with cardstock die cuts. To complete the page, I added a sentiment and cut little spring saying!

DIY Floral Barrette

Hello everyone.  I want to show you how I turned a ho-hum hair clip into a pretty spring fashion piece with today's DIY Floral Barrette tutorial.

So now that you've seen the finished project, let's take a look at what it started out as.

Still very lovely but sometimes you just want to add a bit of happiness to your hair, right?

All I needed to complete this was a few sheets of patterned paper, die cuts, puffy stickers and Sticky Thumb adhesive of course! I would also suggest a bit of Mod Podge or some sort of sealer to protect it from repeated use or a rainy day.

The first thing I did was wrap the barrette in paper.  Easy peasy!

Next, I fussy cut some flowers and carefully selected a die cut butterfly and a few puffy stickers. I cut some extra leaves to use as fillers.

Then I just started layering the bits and pieces. I started with the two larger pieces on the ends and then filled in with smaller bits until I loved the look.

Remember the before photo above?  What do you think of the after? I can tell you that I have a very happy little girl who can't wait to wear this with her favorite Spring outfits!

Lucky Charm Scrapbooking Layout and Free Cut File

Hello everyone!  Heather Leopard is here to present you with my lucky charm and a free Silhouette cut file so you can create your own Lucky Charm scrapbooking layout!



I consider my girl to be as rare as a 4 leaf clover so I thought it was appropriate to create a background full of these lucky clovers.  You can too by downloading this free Silhouette cut file HERE.



I used two patterned papers and cut 2 different sizes of clovers, which are included in the free cut file.  Then, I placed them 4 across and 4 down. It is a 4 leaf clover afterall.  I alternated the large clover patterns.



Once they were all placed on the page, I tacked them with a dab of glue to keep them in place.  Then I stitched a + or an x through them.  Next, I lifted up the sides of each petal and creased them in the middle.  I also alternated puffy flower stickers and gold sequins to the middle of the clovers. You can see this better in the photo below.



I kept the layering around the photos to a minimum since the background was already so busy.  I added just enough to draw attention to the photos.

I just love the pink glitter Thickers included with this collection.  I blended them with a script "lucky" to complete the layout.

Hello Beautiful | Simple Life Scrapbooking Layout

Hi everyone.  I'm here today to tell you how I survived a strong desire to fussy cut a bunch of teeny tiny flowers from the Wildflowers paper for this scrapbooking layout.

Yep, I was immediately drawn to this paper containing all these beautiful wildflowers, including bluebonnets.  That sure did make this Texas gal's heart happy. I just knew I had to "pick" each flower to use on my layout but there was no way was I going to attempt to cut them out by hand. No way, no how! Enter Silhouette PixScan...

I used the PixScan mat and my Silhouette CAMEO. I took a photo of the image, imported it into Silhouette software and traced each flower.  I sent it to the cutter and within minutes, each flower was individually cut just like that!

Look at those delicate little flowers!  At this point, I wasn't sure exactly how I'd use them because the stems were posing a problem.  It would be weird to just place them scattered on the page.

Then it hit me! I used them to frame my photo. What a fun, eye-catching way to draw you in to the photo.  

As I said, I decided to use them to create a frame around my photo (I used a 3" circle photo). To do this, I added tape adhesive to the back of my photo and randomly started placing the first layer of photos. Once I had the first layer, I was a bit more selective on choosing color placement and length of the flowers. I kept working at it until I liked what I saw.  Then I adhered it to the page using foam dimension adhesive.

I added some wooden leaves behind the photo to add more weight to the right side after adding the title on the left.

I added additional clusters around the page, including the title, sub title and a flower box at the bottom to pull it all together.

DIY Baby Room Decor

Hello, friends.  I have a special delivery today...a quick and easy DIY Baby room decor item, perfect for a baby's room. It can also double as a gift wrap decor that can then later be used in the nursery.

Here's what you'll need to get started:

• Embroidery Hoop
• 12x12 patterned paper
• die cut embellishments
• Stickers
• Liquid adhesive or glue dots
• foam squares
• sewing machine

The first thing you'll do is cut a circle just a bit larger than the inside of the embroidery hoop.  I simply took the hoop apart and traced along the outside. Once cut, attach to the back of the hoop. Trust me, this is the easiest route and also helps add dimension to the project.

Next, choose a few die cuts to make a banner.

Stitch them together using a sewing machine.

Position them across the top of the hoop.  Adhere the edges to the hoop.  Add foam dots to the back of the die cuts that are in the middle of the hoop.

Lastly, add the babies name to the open area of the hoop and embellish around the name as well as around the hoop to your liking. Now you have the perfect DIY baby room decor for your sweet bundle of joy!

Hugs & Kisses DIY Valentine's Day Home Decor

Happy day before Valentine's Day, friends!  I wanted to share a quick and easy DIY home decor you can whip up tonight for the big day tomorrow.

 I spotted this wonderful Heart shaped corkboard in the dollar spot at one of my most favorite places in the world and I snatched it up right away.  I wish I had grabbed more because I love it so!  Anyway, it was the inspiration I needed to celebrate my greatest loves! I printed a 2.5"x3" photo of my hubby and me and then two 2"x3" photos of our girls but what could I do to decorate this heart shaped corkboard that would help keep the shape of the heart? I figured it's all about the curves here so a few dimensional flowers would do the trick.

 Creating the flowers is actually pretty quick and easy.  I cut different shapes of squares and then cut them in a spiral, like you see in the top right and bottom of the photo above.  I kept some with a straight edge and others with a scallop.

While my glue gun was heating, I starting rolling the spiral around a pencil, starting with the outside edge.  Then, pulling the pencil away, I tightened it and shaped the flower to my liking and sealed it all together by applying hot glue to that round base.

How cute is this heart corkboard?  I created some additional flowers using my Silhouette CAMEO and a few cut files I had purchased.

  I decided to put clusters of flowers in a triangle because you know, decorating rules.

  Lastly, add photos and embellishments! Hang for all your special people to see.
