Cards for the New Year & a Silhouette Gift Card Giveaway

Hi everyone. I'm not sure how this happened.  I haven't blogged in 12 days. Actually, I am sure it's because of CHA projects and a sudden trip to my hometown to pay respects to my great aunt. RIP Aunt Timo. And then the actual CHA trip. It's be a busy start to the New Year but that's A-OK.

Speaking of the New Year, I volunteered to do an extra assignment for American Crafts and haven't blogged about them yet.  They assignment was to create New Years cards. There aren't too many people that I give New Years cards to so I chose to create some that could be universal for many things, from any type of celebration to graduation to an every day happiness card.

These cards just make me happy. For the first card, I backed my design with paper that I thought looked like garland or circle banners hanging down.  I then fussy cut strands of garland and glued them to the top of the card so that they would be free to hang down.

 

I added Zazz glitter glue over each of the hanging circles, which are almost impossible to see in my photo. If you look closely, you can see the glitter. I then added "2014" and some sticker sentiments to the card.

My inspiration for this next card was the frame. I loved that it already had a sentiment pre-printed. To start the card off, I added some corrugated glitter cardstock by American Crafts as a background. 

I backed the frame with coordinating colors and a subtle pattern. I added a paper accordion flower to the fabric flower, added a second sentiment at the top and finished it off by adding gold glitter letters that match the background.

This last card is super fun. I love the banner overlay and knew I wanted to use it for my background but it was just soo boring on plain cardstock.  Enter the pretty star paper. When matched up together, it made the perfect background combination.

I adore the "fun day" tag so I used that as my main topper, layering the die cut and flower. Icing on the cake is the glitter clothespin. Or maybe the icing is the bow and the cherry on top is the glitter clothespin. Yeah, that's it.
